The Nature Experience Of A Lifetime!
Take a unique journey from the charming shoreline village of Akaroa, up over the rim of an extinct volcano, past spectacular farmland and ocean views, and down eastern slopes to the Pacific Ocean. There, at the foot of one-hundred-metre cliffs, we will encounter an adorable colony of New Zealand Fur Seals, swimming and sun bathing amongst 8-million-year-old volcanic deposits.

The tour started with Paul driving us through his private farmland, while giving us facts about the area and the seals - he was very knowledgable about both! The drive leads to a bay where the seal colony is - there were so many seals and seal pups swimming and sunbathing on the rocks - the pups in particular were adorable! We were able to get pretty close to the seals but I would recommend a zoom lens for any photographers. Paul also provided hot drinks and homemade lemon muffins which were excellent. We really got the impression that we were visiting seals in their natural habitat and the fact that the only way to access the bay is through Paul’s private farmland means the number of visitors is limited and helps keep the authenticity of the tour. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Akaroa!
